A Reflex Booster is a piece of gear in the F.E.A.R. series that increases the amount of time a player can be in Slow-Mo by 2.5 seconds.
Both Timelines[]
F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon[]
As it is, the F.E.A.R. Point Man's reflexes are, "off the charts," according to Rowdy Betters. The player can only spend a short time in Slow-Mo before returning to normal mode, but that amount of time can be increased with the Reflex Booster. These pickups are rare, and are usually hidden; so the player needs to search for them in the enviroment. Like Health Boosters, Reflex Booster will glow in dark areas, but getting to them still require the player to solve the in-game puzzle to obtain it. There are 20 total Reflex Boosters during the course of the game.
Vivendi Timeline[]
Reflex Boosters are also found in F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate and F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, and function exactly as when encountered in F.E.A.R., though there are less Reflex Boosters to be found in the expansion packs than in the first game.
Monolith Timeline[]
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin[]
The Reflex Boosters make a comeback in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and do exactly the same thing as before. However, each pickup gives the player a little more extra gauge to the left Slow-Mo bar, when all 13 Reflex Boosters are found, it will augment the left Slow-Mo gauge by one hundred percent, thus doubling the Slow-Mo time. The progress will be carry over to Reborn, thus if the player does not obtain any Boosters before playing this DLC, the character will only have one bar of usage time. Boosters also carry over to a new game with the same profile, all boosters that were already picked up can no longer be found when replaying the level.
The Reflex Booster is also known as the "Reflex Injector." After players obtain it, they won't need to obtain it again if the player starts the game over. If the reflex bar is empty when the player finds an injector, picking up the injector will refill the Slow-Mo bar, just as it did with its older game counterparts. After 1.05 patch, there will be a time icon (a little green clock) on the injector, which can be seen via the visor. This make the hidden injectors easier to find. The Reflex Boosters in F.E.A.R. 2 do glow, but the luminosity is significantly lower, that player might miss them.
In a game mode of F.E.A.R. 2's multiplayer, players have to fight for one Reflex Injector, and once obtained, it will allow the user the Slow-Mo ability for a short period of time.
Trivia[]
- The liquid seen in the Reflex Boosters appear to have the same functions as the surgical equipment in the Harbinger Facility.
- Many posters that can be found in Auburn Memorial Hospital are advertising Reflex Boosters.
