This article is about a walkthrough from F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, and is therefore written like a guide.


Interval 03 - Descent - Orange Line, It is the second part of the Interval 03 from F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. Point Man ventures deeper into the subway hoping to continue following the Orange Line straight to the hospital.

This level features the debut of a new enemy: Replica Heavy Riot Armor, which is much tougher then the standard Heavy Armor.

Initial Brief[]

SITUATION:

The Replicas are using the city subway to transport equipment and supplies. To what end, you do not know.

MISSION:

Follow the subway tracks to the exit near Auburn Memorial Hospital.

Secondary objective is to collect information on Replica activities in the subway system.


Walkthrough[]

The moment you start, your radio will display Unknown Origin, and followed by that, Replica will begin to open fire at you, all armed with HV Penetrators. Simply duck into cover wherever you can find, there is no need to fire back, you'll see why in just a bit. On your left is a labeled crate containing four ASP rifles, on the right across from that is an explosive crate containing two N6A3 Frag Grenades. By now you've noticed Young Alma has appeared and proceeds to murder all the Replica for you. Careful not to get too close to her or she may accidentally murder you too! She disappears after she's done, and leaves you to collect any remaining supplies in the tunnel. Some of those slaughtered Replica will drop their nailguns, so make sure to grab them if you want them. Keep going down the tunnel, the blue door you come across on the left is locked and there is nothing of value around the boxes, so keep heading down.

When you approach the buried train at the end of the tunnel, remain vigilant as the next area on the left has four Replica Tactical Soldiers, all equipped with G2A2s, use the pillars for extra cover. Your VK-12 can come in handy here, but penetrators could as well, given you just recently acquired them. Straight down the middle there is a small dead-end room that contains an explosives box with an assault rifle resting on it, inside are two frags, the shelf on the right contains two medkits and an armor pick up. Grab what you need and jump down (the ladder is broken and can't be used) down to the next tracks, do not follow the tracks either left or right, instead just go over the railings straight ahead to the red colored door. (Going down one of the paths will cause an unavoidable train to spawn, forcing you to track down there regardless.)

Entering the red door the first thing you'll notice is a medkit on the wall to the right, around the corner and you'll be presenting with two paths, a padlocked fence on the left next to the dead technician, or the red door on the right. Break the padlock and crawl through the vents. The vents take you to a small storage room filled with rare goodies. On the table directly next to the vent exit is an armor pick up and three M77 Remote bombs, next to the shelf is a Type-7 Particle Weapon, which can come in handy later on. The red door simply takes you to a small room with nothing but a fire extinguisher and a medkit. The next red door simply takes you back to the hallway with the gate. Instead go left to the other red door.

This door takes you to a generator room, with Alma watching over you, don't stare back as Replica immediately ambush you. Initially a Tactical soldier with arrive from the left with another on the catwalks to the right, a Replica Elite will aid the soldier on the ground, while a second Tactical soldier will arrive on the catwalks after a bit. All of them are armed with a G2A2. Taking the ladder up to the catwalks and following it will take you to a door that contains a health kit. Ignore it if you already have 10 and go back down to where the soldiers on the ground came from. Go up the stairs and another soldier will be walking towards the stairs from the right. Quickly dispatch him and  be ready for the Replica Elite that's around the corner. Behind the green generator is a VK-12 and armor pickup and there is a medkit on the wall next to the extinguisher. The next rooms do not contain any pickups or items of any kind so head up the ladder and straight to the blue door.

The next room contains two hostile Deployable Turrets noted by the red light. If you have a Penetrator use it as it's accuracy combined with slow-mo should allow you to get the drop on the turrets no problem, well placed grenades will work just as fine too. Proceed to the far right door as all the other doors are locked. Head down the hallway and you're taken into a small little cutscene (but be ready for a jumpscare afterwards). Once it's over, proceed to the end of the hallway and open the door.

Straight ahead is a shelf with a single Remote Bomb, Frag and a VK-12. Hurry and turn left as four Tactical soldiers armed with G2A2s will move in from the very end. There are multiple explosive barrels and even a fire extinguisher you can use to get the drop of them. Upon reaching the stairs, taking the left path will result in a dead end with no items. Head for the blue door with the exit sign above it, don't forget the medkit in the middle wall of the room.

The exit door takes you to a long hallway, follow it all the way down and turn right to the double doors (or the blue door on the right before if you already know what's coming.) if you approach the locked double doors, you will see two Delta Force soldiers rushing back to retreat before stopping to make a stand, until they are killed by a new enemy, once they run off, head back to the smaller blue door from before. Take the corridor down until you spot a Tactical soldier, take him down and be ready for the other two. One of them is a Laser Elite soldier armed with a VK-12 Shotgun, avoiding a close encounter with him in this room is hard, so try to take him out before he can react or lob a grenade from around the corner (A VK-12 will also work for you in the room). Once they're done for, the room contains two medkits, an armor pickup, a frag and an RPL. Proceed down when you're done with the room.

The next room, immediately turn right and target the Tactical soldier running off, at that moment three more Replica will pop out from the elevation, two Tacticals and one Elite all armed with the assault rifle. When they're dead a Replica will say "Squad, move out!" and destroy the boxes to clear both them and you a path. Grab the two medkits once you deal with them before moving on. Moving past the boxes will place you in a small room with lots of pipes, deal with the Tactical there and be careful about the corners ahead, Replicas will use them to get a drop on you, once you kill the three, move towards the vent cover. The labeled box across from it has a medkit if you need it. Destroy the grate and hop down.

Right behind you where you land, next to the barricaded door is a labeled crate with a health booster, make sure to grab that before continuing on to a flooded section, climb on the yellow ladder. About halfway, Alma will spook you and push you off the ladder. Simply shrug it off and climb back up (as she doesn't do it a second time) when you reach the top, you can hear what sounds like a minigun followed by death screams. There's a medkit at the next ladder. Take that ladder up and be ready. That new enemy from before? You have to fight it.

Head straight and the Replica Heavy Riot Armor will be waiting. These guys are tougher to kill than the standard Heavy armor, they boast a big minigun in one hand, and a riot shield in the other. They will chip your health away easily if you're left in the open, so grab some cover. Traps such as remote bombs and Proximity mines are effective. If you have a Type-7 or ASP rifle from earlier, these will come in handy too. Activate slow motion and score hits on the vulnerable parts of his body that aren't covered by the riot shield. It takes about 7-8 Type-7 shots to kill one on Moderate difficulty. Once he's dead, his minigun is up for grabs should you want it. On the right next to the light is a shelf with two AT-14 pistols and each of the dead Delta Force soldiers have G2A2s next to them. Follow the generator around and past the exit sign, medkit on your left.

Then you'll enter a familiar room, where the two Delta Force soldiers from earlier were making a stand, if you did watch them, they would've dropped their G2A2's on death, same with the Replica they killed. There is another medkit beside a metallic pipe, once you're done make your way to the blue door between the pipes and enter it, head down the hallway and keep following it until you stumble upon Replica dumping a Delta Force soldier's body over a ledge, have a weapon handy and immediately enter slow motion and target the explosive barrel. That should kill them so long as you haven't alerted them yet. This room has lots of goodies, on the left there is a labeled crate containing 5 G2A2 rifles and an armor pickup, and on the right there is a VK-12, 3 frags, 2 medkits, 2 Proximity mines, another G2A2, a Health Booster and a labeled crate containing 5 more G2A2s. Proceed through the double doors on the left.

A Medkit will immediately be in view straight ahead, head right and be ready for another fight. Four Tactical soldiers, three with G2A2s and one with a VK-12 will be patrolling around, use a G2A2 or Penetrator to take them out, utilize the explosive barrels that are scattered around. Soon after, 3 Tacticals armed with G2A2s and a VK-12, followed by one Elite with a Penetrator will arrive from the room on the catwalks, dispatch them just as quick. The small office on the right of the generators contains three frags, a Penetrator and armor free for taking. There is a single medkit on the shelf under the catwalks. Head up the catwalks to the small office and there will be another medkit in the corner of the room. Proceed through the blue door behind you and around the corner.

Down the hall and you will get an Unknown Origin warning on your radio, proceed further and through the blue door on the left. A hallucination will trigger and you will see someone familiar get up from the floor before the door shuts right in front of you. Go through that same door and follow the chair which will pull away from you. Otherwise go through the blue door on the right shortly before entering for yet another hallucination, Nightmares will spawn however these ones are just there for scare factor and pose no threat. Grab medkit at the other end of the room if you need it and proceed through the next blue door. This takes you into the command center for the subway, though there's nothing here, proceed to the left of the console and turn around to see a grate. Break it and crawl through it until you see a yellow ladder, climb up and then keep crawling, break out and turn right and just keep walking to the end, the door is locked so simply hop on the unstable grate in front of it.

The level ends when you fall down.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible to be damaged by stray fire from the Delta Force operatives as they are running away from the Replica.
  • By activating slow-mo at certain points after the ladder scare, it's possible to glitch out the script that normally kills the Delta Force soldiers by the Replica Heavy Riot Armor. This will cause them to stay alive and usually (ironically) take down the riot unit with ease. However, they will simply patrol or stand around the room, and will make no attempt to follow the player. This can be seen here.
