F.E.A.R. Files is a compilation package that contains F.E.A.R. Extraction Point and F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate, both of which are available separately for Microsoft Windows. It is exclusive to the Xbox 360 as a standalone game. Both of the game's entries are considered non-canon by Monolith Productions, and thus make up the alternate Vivendi Timeline.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point[]

Main article: F.E.A.R. Extraction Point

The plot of F.E.A.R. Extraction Point begins immediately after the original F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon. As the helicopter that the F.E.A.R. Point Man is on attempts to leave the vicinity, it instead winds up crashing. The Point Man is thus forced to seek out an alternate extraction point, and this becomes the overarching goal of the title. Additions to the title above and beyond F.E.A.R. include new weapons, enemies, and single-player levels, although there is also much re-use of existing game elements.

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate[]

Main article: F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate concerns a parallel plot line which takes place at the same time as F.E.A.R., as well as during some of the events from F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. A second F.E.A.R. team, including the player character, the Sergeant, is sent to investigate Armacham Technology Corporation. New game elements include a new enemy faction, the Nightcrawlers, who are dangerous human mercenaries equipped with specialized weaponry, more new weapons, and new locations.

Reception[]

Reviews of the package noted that it was, as expected, more F.E.A.R. action for fans of the original. The IGN review of F.E.A.R. Files noted that while the game maintains its solid core mechanics, it doesn't do enough to expand upon them or offer a truly new experience. As a result, the title earned a 6.7/10, "Passable" rating. GameSpot rated the title a slightly higher 7.0/10, "Good," based on the solid gameplay, even though the Perseus Mandate graphical quality was considered lackluster.
