David Raynes is a strong, confident and a very capable fighter appearing in F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate as leader of the second F.E.A.R. team. He fights alongside the Sergeant and Lt. Steve Chen in a few parts of the game. He is voiced by Steven Jay Blum.

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate[]
Introduced in Perseus Mandate, Raynes is the leader of the second F.E.A.R. team, sent to investigate the Armacham Technology Corporation after Aldus Bishop's death. Raynes leads his team through the mission, issuing orders to Lt. Steve Chen and the Sergeant before losing contact with them after the explosion of the Origin facility. Somehow he survived the explosion even though he didn't get to underground in time.
He manages to regain contact with the Sergeant when he surfaces from the Old Underground Metro Area and the Subway, and later when the Sergeant makes his way to the Perseus Compound, Raynes manages to acquire one of the Nightcrawler's radios and tune it to Sergeant's signal to remain in contact with him, and makes remarks about the Nightcrawlers and the Perseus Facility during the Sergeant's journey there. After the Sergeant confiscates Alma's stolen DNA from the Nightcrawlers in the Perseus Compound, he and the Sergeant subdue Replicas on the surface of the island before boarding the helicopter at the extraction point. He then remarks to the Sergeant that the team needs a new lieutenant (hinting that the Sergeant will be promoted), and that Chen would be proud of the Sergeant.
Multiplayer[]
As with Chen, he is also able to be selected in Multiplayer.
Trivia[]
- Although Raynes carries a G2A2 Assault Rifle during Intervals 01, 02, and 03, he uses a RPL Submachine Gun when met on the island housing the Perseus Compound during the last phase of Interval 07.
- Although Raynes carries an AT-14 Pistol in a shoulder holster, he never uses it.
